How to plan your kitchen cabinets

A short checklist to get from "I want new cabinets" to a quote that matches your kitchen.

Corner of a kitchen with white cabinets, silver handles and a window above the sink

Planning checklist

  1. Measure the walls

Note each wall length, ceiling height and the position of windows, doors and any column. Rough numbers are fine for a quote; we measure exactly before making anything.

  2. Take photos

Photograph each wall straight on, plus the corners. Email them to info@toronto-cabinets.ca.

  3. Decide what stays

Appliances, sink and counters: tell us what is staying and what is being replaced.

  4. Choose a budget range

    Compare it with the from-prices.

  5. Check building rules

For a condo, find out elevator booking and move-in rules.

Permits

Permits are usually not needed for cabinets alone. Moving or adding plumbing, venting or structural changes may need one. Rules are set by your municipality, so check with your city before changing the layout.

Planning questions

Do I need exact measurements before asking for a quote?
